EpiSense is an early-stage start-up ideated by two UC Davis students, Jaya Athuluru and Simran Lallian. They recruited a team of software developers—Aditya Sharma and Shivam Bhandari; hardware developers—Suvan Sudan and Mihir Juniea; and app/website developers—Zubaira Amin and Nicole Chen, to launch their idea into reality. We received first place in the PLASMA Startup competition, receiving $10,000 to further our venture. In addition, we won first place in the ****Big Bang! Business Competition, receiving $25,000 to further our venture as well.

EpiSense is an EEG Headband intended for everyday use that predicts seizures up to 5 minutes in advance, by detecting irregular spikes in brain activity. It then sends a notification to the patient and emergency contacts to prepare for the episode, granting them enough time to seize in an environment without objects around them that would inflict injuries. The design is comfortable and discreet, with the band resting on the ears and over the nape of the neck.

After conducting our user research and interviews, we ideated and synthesized our data into stages of our Low-Fidelity sketches, then Mid-Fidelity, and Hi-Fidelity screens of our final prototype on Figma:

Website creation: we created a static mock-up of what different layouts of the website would potentially look like on Figma:
